We did indeed have a lovely holiday in The Lodge. The property was ideal for a couple and I can't honestly think of anything I would change or improve. The owners were delightful and very helpful when I couldn't figure out how to work the TV (I am technologically incompetent - it's a miracle I'm writing this email). The Lodge was the perfect base from which to explore the beautiful island. It also had one of the comfiest beds we've ever slept in. The highlights of our holiday were innumerable. Finding a Peregrine falcon sitting on the passing-place pole on the road from Pennyghael; picnicking among puffins on Lunga; sitting on the beach at the north end of Iona unable to believe we weren't in the Caribbean; chatting to Angus Stewart in his studio for an hour; visiting your colleague John's store of antlers; Mull Pottery; the sea eagles at Duart Castle; just looking at the turquoise sea and the hills and the sky and listening to . . . nothing. The only suggestion I would make is that you should lobby the Scottish Government to build a funicular railway from Main Street to Upper Tobermory - for visitors of a certain age, walking up the hill is a bit of a trauchle, and you can't take the car if you're planning to have a pint. I sincerely hope that we will return to Mull and if and when we do we will certainly use Island Holiday Cottages. Probably The Lodge, in fact.

We loved staying at The Lodge – it was really well-appointed and very comfortable and we would certainly stay there again!
