We have stayed at Calgary for years in various of the self-catering options. As just me and my daughter this week we took the chance to stay in the Dovecot which was great. So beautiful.

Felt lucky to have a week in this cottage in this special location. If you’re looking for peace in rural island life, then this is it. I had a great stay in late Sept/early Oct. The dovecot conversion is v well done & characterful. The living room is dark (as others have said) but the other rooms are not & the small but private outside space makes up for it (& the weather was kind to me to enjoy it). Being there in autumn actually meant it was lovely & cosy. I loved being a 5 min walk from Calgary beach (as did the dog), the woodland sculpture trail, right on the doorstep, was a delight, full of magical surprises & the coffee at the cafe was excellent & an added bonus. I also really enjoyed this as a base to explore the North & North/West end of the island (to Ulva etc) & its easy enough to get to Tobermory by car. The stretch of the rally route I did was a driver’s delight!
