This was a magical stay. The walks, the views, the animals…..all outstanding! Our friends kept saying things like “we are actually in a castle, overlooking the coast in Scotland!”
We loved staying at Glengorm Castle! In fact, we wish we had planned our trip differently & stayed on Mull & at Glengorm for more than one night. It is a beautiful, spacious flat, with access to one of the turrets of the castle. We are a family of 3 adults, so we enjoyed having the freedom to spread out as the flat has multiple levels. That's quite a boost on a vacation, when most of the time you have a small space to live in at hotels. The bathroom had a separate toilet, & the bathroom had a large shower & tub, so it was convenient to get ready in the morning. The bedrooms were spacious & having a washer AND a dryer is convenient, since we found in the UK that accommodations can have a washer, but not always have a dryer. The hosts communicated quickly & made us feel right at home. We walked down to the pastures & enjoyed the Highland cows & sheep up-close! This windswept, beautiful castle was my favourite lodging night on holiday!
The apartment in the castle is better than the photos. It’s quirky and interesting and includes the Tower Room in the turret which featured on the BBC’s recent series Designing The Hebrides with interior designer Banjo Beale who lives on Mull. The bed linen was of excellent quality as was the down filled duvets and pillow - bliss! The views from every window are stunning, no matter what the weather. The extensive walks from the castle in the estate are the reason to book your stay, the on site cafe just a 3 minutes stroll from the castle is great. The owners who live in the castle are laid back, relaxed and dog friendly. The apartment is accessed via the main front door of the castle (signed Tower Apartment and Private, which although accurate, I found confusing on arrival), just ring the big brass hand held bell and they’ll welcome you into their huge reception hall/living room and lead you up the enormous wooden staircase to the private entrance door to the self contained apartment.
Such a stunning location. This apartment is at the top of the castle, and feels very private (despite the entrance being shared with the family who own the castle).
We had such a peaceful, beautiful stay here. Would love to come back!
If you are looking for a magical place to stay in Scotland, this is the place! We had an amazing time in the castle and particularly in the Tower rooms. We also enjoyed our walks and hikes around the grounds and in Tobermory. We took in the Highland Games, which we highly recommend! Super, super time in Scotland!
This was the most amazing place we have ever stayed! The photos do not do justice to the sheer volume of the apartment, the beautiful decor, and the stunning landscape and sea views. The castle and grounds are full of archaeological treasures, a cafe with delicious brunch, and a herd of highland coos. Everyone was so friendly. We will come back again!
